Jessica Gihm
Therapist
Jessica Gihm primarily utilizes TEAM therapy, a type of cognitive behavior therapy that was developed by Dr. David Burns. TEAM stands for testing, empathy, agenda-setting, and methods. It is a framework for conducting evidenced-based therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is based on the idea that if we can change the way we think, we can change the way we feel.
Jessica holds a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Western Seminary. Which is an institution that specializes in fostering graduates’ appreciation and inclusion of spirituality, attachment, and family systems perspectives in their counseling work.
Since 2008, Jessica has provided individual and group treatment services to adults in community mental health treatment settings with a specialty in cognitive-behavioral interventions and treatment models (e.g. Seeking Safety and TEAM therapy). Additional clinical experience includes work as an inpatient assessment counselor, administrative supervisor to mental health clinicians, a trainer and coach to new clinicians, private practice clinician providing couples and individual therapy, and as a mental health director supervising behavioral health staff in a correctional facility.
